The City of Evanston’s
Health & Human Services Department is once again partnering with the
Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to host a temporary COVID-19
testing site at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) on Sunday, January 3,
2021.
Testing will take place from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the ETHS parking lot located east of Dodge Avenue and
north of Lake Street. Both drive-through and walk-up testing will be available.
Drivers should enter the testing site from northbound Dodge Avenue at the
parking lot's south entrance. Walk-up testing will be available at the north
end of the parking lot. In addition:
Testing is open to all
Evanston residents, regardless of symptoms.
There is no cost to be
tested.
Residents should bring their
insurance card, but will still be tested even without insurance.
Simple nasal swabs will be
used for testing.
Those tested will be called
with their test results in four to seven days.
The City’s Health &
Human Services Department continues to recommend testing for asymptomatic
contacts of COVID-19 cases as well as those with potential exposure to
COVID-19. In order to slow the spread of the virus, the quick identification of
cases via testing is a vital step to conduct thorough and effective contact
tracing.
In addition to the testing
events at ETHS, community members may visit any of the State’s COVID-19
community-based, drive-through testing sites to receive a free test,
regardless of symptoms. The nearest community-based testing locations to Evanston
include:
Harwood Heights
6959 W. Forest Preserve Rd., Chicago
Open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily while supplies last
Arlington Racetrack
2000 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights
Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily while supplies last
Community-based testing
sites will be closed on Friday, January 1 for the New Year's Day holiday.
Testing is also offered by
local healthcare providers, including NorthShore University HealthSystem, AMITA
Health St. Francis Hospital and Erie Health Center, as well as at some CVS, Walgreens and Physicians Immediate Care locations. Residents should
contact their healthcare provider for testing guidelines and requirements.
