  • What to do and what to expect today, relating to snow.
  • The City of Evanston’s Health Department reports that a 57-year-old resident of Evanston has been confirmed to have the West Nile virus (WNV), based on a laboratory test by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). This is the first case of WNV identified in an Evanston resident this year. IDPH has confirmed the human WNV case in Evanston as the third reported such case in the state for 2012.
  • The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District will be conducting targeted adult mosquito control operations in portions of Evanston on Tuesday, July 24, and Wednesday, July 25, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., weather permitting.
  • The City of Evanston has experienced a series of water main leaks and breaks over the past few days on Central Street. There have been eight water main breaks, on the 6-inch diameter water main on Central Street between Cowper Avenue and Central Park Avenue within the past
  • There are approximately 425 ComEd customers without power inEvanston, almost all betweenGreenwood St.(to the north),South Blvd.(to the south),Ridge Ave.(to the east) andLake Shore Blvd.(to the west). No accurate restoration time is available at this time.
  • Fire Chief Greg Klaiber said that at 4:45 p.m. today, April 20, the fire department responded to a call for service at 1560 Sherman Ave.  Several occupants reported hearing an explosion from the Com Ed vault on the 18th floor.
  • ComEd has reported a power outage on the south side of Evanston into the north side of Chicago. Areas without power are roughly located from Brummel St. to the north, Hartrey Ave. to the west, N. Pualina St. in Chicago to the east and Touhy Ave. to the south.
  • Water Shut Down- Main and Sherman- today at 4:30 p.m.

  • Water will be shut-off for the entire 2400 block of Lake Street starting at 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 15 in order to repair a water main break.
  • Water Shut Down- 1000-1200 blocks of South Blvd & 500-600 blocks of Barton

  • Water will be shut off 9-4 today in parts of south Evanston.
  • The main west access staircase to the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center was removed recently due to deterioration beyond repair.
