The news reports racial differences in percentages of people infected with the Covid-19 virus in the USA, stating that Black people have the highest percentage of infections.

When talking with some friends, I learned that I was not the only one concerned about the consequences of this information when received by bigots/mentally-limited people.

One friend, whom I shall call Cora, is the caregiver of a senior white woman whom I shall call Rose. Cora is a Black woman. Cora said that when Rose's white friend, whom I shall call Rebecca, came to visit Rose, Rebecca would put on a mask whenever Cora entered the room or looked as though she was about to enter the room.

However, Cora said that Rebecca and Rose did not wear masks when sitting together. Cora suspected that Rebecca thought because Cora was Black that she must have the virus. After all, the news certainly said that Black people in the U.S.A. had the highest percentage of viral infections.

What Rebecca did not seem to understand was that if Cora had the virus and Cora and Rose lived together, more than likely, Rose would have it, too regardless of Rose’s being white.

Sigh.

The virus might not be picky in tight quarters.
