On June 10, the District 65 School Board approved the appointment of Mr. David Davis as the next principal of Kingsley Elementary. Mr. Davis will officially begin in his new role on July 1, 2019.

As part of the process, members of the Kingsley community met with district administrators to develop a leadership profile that identified the skills and attributes desired for the next school principal. The information contained within the leadership profile was used to narrow down a pool of qualified applicants. Those that were identified as a strong fit for the role were interviewed by a committee of educators, family members, and administrators and participated in a subsequent community forum. Site visits were conducted with the final candidates.

“I would like to thank the Kingsley community for their deep commitment to the principal selection process. We are all looking forward to welcoming Mr. Davis back to the District 65 family,” said Superintendent Paul Goren. “I know that he will be a strong instructional leader, an advocate for equity and bringing all voices to the table, as well as a trusted partner for collaboration around student achievement, social emotional supports, and school climate.”

Mr. Davis has expressed his enthusiasm in returning to District 65 where he served as a third grade teacher at Oakton Elementary for seven years. “I'm excited to have the opportunity to get to know the teachers, staff, students, and families,” said Mr. Davis. “I look forward to building on Kingsley's strong foundation to create a collaborative learning environment in order to meet the needs of all students.”

Most recently, Mr. Davis served as an Assistant Principal in River Forest District 90 where he developed district and school goals for improving instruction, helped support the goal of developing  a standards-based learning and grading system, supported implementation of district equity goals at the building level, and led other instructional and operational projects and tasks. Mr. Davis also held positions as an Interim Assistant Principal and District Technology Facilitator in Winnetka District 36, and as a Technology Specialist in Westchester District 92.5. He holds Masters Degrees in Principal Preparation/Administration and Educational Technology from Concordia University and in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University.

A meet and greet opportunity is being planned for students, staff, and families to meet Mr. Davis prior to the start of the new school year.
