A June 2019 graduate of Evanston Township High School and her mother filed a 22-page complaint in federal court on Aug. 20, against Evanston Township High School District 202, two administrators, two former safety officers employed by ETHS, unnamed officers of the Evanston Police Department and the City of Evanston.

The complaint alleges that one of the safety officers engaged in numerous acts of unwanted and unauthorized sexual acts and other contact with the student in 2015 and 2016, and that the second safety officer did so between September 2018 and January 2019. The complaint alleges that the student turned 18 in 2019.

The complaint alleges that the administrators failed to take certain actions and to provide for the safety and security of the student from further sexual harm at the hands of ETHS employees.

The complaint seeks to recover actual or compensatory damages, punitive damages, and additional relief against defendants under federal civil rights laws and Illinois laws.

Defendants have not yet filed answers or other pleadings in response to the complaint.

The RoundTable asked administrators to comment on the complaint. They did not do so before this paper went to press.
