The League of Women Voters awarded its scholarship to Evanston Township High School senior Phoebe Liccardo on May 15 at ETHS’s Senior Scholarship Night ceremony.

While in high school, Phoebe was an elected member of the Student Senate all four years and served as President during her senior year. She also was elected to serve as the student representative to the District 202 School Board her senior year.

Phoebe has given speeches on gun violence prevention and led protests against gun violence. Her efforts led to local legislators visiting the school to talk about strategies to end gun violence. In addition, while at ETHS, Phoebe led multiple voter registration drives and helped create a gender-neutral school dress code that became a model for inclusivity and acceptance.

Phoebe earned a  4.5 GPA and was on the high honor roll all four years. She will attend Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich.
