DetailsThe Pearl Society presents “Global warming, climate change, consequences for cultured pearls, “sustainable practices of pearl communities and the current bounty of cultured pearls” on Monday, May 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Eve J Alfillé Gallery and Studio in Evanston. Betty Sue King, the Pearl Goddess’ will draw on her extensive knowledge and experience as well as her ongoing links to world pearl production to sketch out how global warming will affect this valued gem. Come join us and view her sampling of lustrous and exotic pearls from current harvests, which will be available for purchase. Betty Sue King is the Pearl Goddess of her company, King’s Ransom. Selecting the most luminous pearls on many overseas buying trips she is the source of fine and unique pearls for designers, collectors, wholesalers and retailers. She has served on AGTA’s Board of Directors Spectrum/Promotions, Executive and Membership Committees. In 2013 she received The WJA Shining Star Award and The Award for Excellence in 2017. Betty Sue exhibits at trade shows, organizes special event Roundtables with clients and writes for journals. Her industry and public education lectures are grounded by 14 years of classroom teaching. Contributions to charitable organizations go hand in hand with her philosophy of replenishing the community enabling choices for a better life. “For more than four decades, I’ve been immersed in the jewelry industry, where women are an integral part of the business,” says King, a recipient of the Women’s Jewelry Association Award of Excellence. “For the most part, I’ve been welcomed and respected … it’s a global world of ethnicity where every flavor and culture work and thrive together.” Her passion for pearls, personal service, ethical practices, and mentoring are integral to King’s Ransom. Bonds in industry and public service enrich life reinforcing Betty Sue’s belief - success is best when shared.
