DetailsJoin us for this Special Happy Hour featuring cool drinks and hot jazz by “The Outside Combo” - Friday, August 2nd, 4:30pm Elliott Hall at Westminster Place. Will Feeney, pianist, is an 18 year old multi-instrumentalist from Evanston, Illinois. He was previously the principal trombonist in the Evanston Township High School Jazz Ensemble, pianist in the top jazz combo and winner of the Louis Armstrong award at ETHS. He has performed at multiple venues throughout the Chicago area, including Jazz Showcase, Fitzgerald’s jazz club in Berwyn and Pete Miller’s steak house in Evanston, as well as the Music Institute of Chicago Anniversary Gala with Wynton Marsalis. He will be attending the Oberlin Conservatory in the fall to study Jazz Composition. Chris Pregmon, bassist, has been playing electric and upright bass for five years. Going into his Senior year at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort Illinois, he is in Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra and Guitar Studio. He also serves as the music department’s resident bass player, playing gigs of every type. Outside of school, Chris plays with his band One-Shot Finch and instructs. Chris has been a member of the International Society of Bassists since 2017 and attended the 2017 and 2019 ISB Conventions. This past summer, Chris attended the NIU Jazz Camp and Birch Creek Jazz I. He also made IMEA District 1 Jazz this past fall. Chris’ inspirations on electric bass include Jaco Pastorius, Stu Hamm and Geddy Lee. Jonathan Brown, jazz drummer, has been behind the drums since he was only six years old. Jonathan started as a rock drummer, but when middle school came around, he quickly fell in love with jazz. Working his way up the ranks in high school, he found himself in the top jazz big band ensemble at Evanston Township High School and the top jazz combo. Eager to get his name out, he brought together a group of his friends in his senior year of high school and started a jazz combo separate from the school. Within weeks, they landed gigs around Evanston, including Bar and Bat-Mitzvahs, weddings and local venues in need of a jazz combo. In the summer of 2019, Jonathan attended the Birch Creek Jazz I session in Door County, Wisconsin studying under big names such as Bob Chmel, Tom Garling, Jeff Campbell and many others. Jonathan’s inspirations on jazz drums includes Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, Buddy Rich, Art Blakey and Elvin Jones. Josh Peng is a clarinetist and saxophonist who has been playing in jazz band since freshman year. He will be attending Vanderbilt University, where he plans to study Political Science. Outside of jazz, his favorite genre of music is Indie Pop.
