The Chicago Viols, a viola da gamba ensemble under the direction of Craig Trompeter, will perform a concert of 17th century music featuring works by William Byrd, Henry Purcell, Alfonso Ferrabosco, Johann Sebastian Bach and Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Trompeter, founding director of the Haymarket Opera Company and former principal cellist of Chicago&rsquo s Baroque Band, has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony, Music of the Baroque and numerous other distinguished musical groups.
The concert will include an interactive discussion. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes (SASI) is sponsoring this event. SASI, a community nonprofit founded in 1975, helps seniors and other adults who, due to aging, illness or injury, need assistance with personal care and daily activities. Based in Evanston, SASI assists adults in Chicago and the north/northwest suburbs.
