Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) in Skokie hopes to raise $20,000 for homeless dogs and cats with their 26th Annual Strut for Strays that starts at McGrath Evanston Subaru on Saturday, October 2, and continues 2.5 miles along the Northshore Sculpture Path. The event kicks off Subaru Loves Pets Month and is made possible in part with a grant from the ASPCA, Subaru Loves Pets, and Subaru.
It costs at least $300 to prepare a dog or cat for adoption. During the pandemic, C.A.R.E. re-homed 349 Chicago area cats and dogs totaling $100,000 over a year’s time. By raising $20,000 with Strut for Strays, C.A.R.E. will be able to rescue approximately 66 more dogs and cats.
9:00 AM: Check in and pick up your goodie bag and t-shirt at McGrath Evanston Subaru. The event will have vendors, $10 dog nail clippings by a certified vet and vet tech, refreshments sponsored by Culver’s of Skokie and Davey Tree, and adoptable dogs on site (as well as information about adoptable cats).
9:30 – 11:00 AM: Strut with or without your pooch along the Northshore Sculpture Path. Raise funds for C.A.R.E. on your own or join a team to walk and raise funds with.
For those who are not comfortable or able to walk with others on October 2, they can still participate virtually by registering and walking whenever they want between October 2-9.
