4th of July Celebration

The Evanston 4th of July Association is celebrating 100 years!

Events start at 9 a.m. and continue until the fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Morning games:
9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Morning games are a tradition that has been going on for 100 years. Family friendly games and events bring neighbors together for fun, competition and social interactions. 

These 7 sites host games beginning at 9:00 am:

1. Baker Park – Forest & Keeney   9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.    
2. ETHS West Field (south end, behind the high school by ball diamond) 1600 Dodge  9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
3. Fleetwood-Jourdain Center – 1655 Foster St, Foster & Darrow  9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
4. Kamen Park – East (Ridgeville Park District) – South Blvd & Barton 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 
5. Lincolnwood School –  2600 Colfax St., McDaniel & Grant   9:00 a.m. – Noon 
6. Robert Crown Center – 1701 Main St., Main & Dodge   9:00 a.m. – Noon 
7. Willard School – 2700 Hurd Ave., Central Park & Park Place   9:00 a.m. – Noon

25 Yard Race ( Boys 5 and under, Girls 5 and under, Boys 6-7 years, Girls 6-7 years, Boys 8-9 years, Girls 8-9 years)

40 Yard Race (Boys 10-11 years, Girls 10-11 years, Boys 12-13 years, Girls 12-13 years

60 Yard Race (Boys 14-15 years, Girls 14-15 years, Boys 16 years and older, Girls 16 years and older) 

Penny Scramble for Boys and Girls 5 and under 

Jump Rope Competition (# skips/30 seconds) Women 18 and older 

25 Yard Sack Race (Boys 10-12 years, Girls 10-12 years 

40 Yard Sack Race (Parent and Son 12 years and under, Parent and Daughter 12 years and under

40 Yard 3-Legged Race (Parent and Son 12 years and under, Parent and Daughter 12 years and under, Mixed Couples 13 years and older)

50 Yard Egg and Spoon Race – Couples Only Adults 

Watermelon Eating Contest 12 years and under 

Pie Eating Contest 12 years and under 

Soccer Ball Kick for Distance 5 years and under 

Egg Tossing Contest – teams 16 years and older 

All games are free. Ribbons are awarded. 

JULY 4th Fun Run for children under 10
Preregister at www.evanston4th.org. Registration and Packet Pickup begin at Noon.  The run starts at 12::45 pm. The run is less than a mile (.7 of a mile) and takes place on Central St. starting at Ackerman Park (McDaniel & Central Street). Participants run west on Central St. to Fire Station 5, turn around and return to Ackerman Park. Registered participants will receive a t-shirt, bib and ribbon. Refreshments will be available. Pre-Registration costs $15.00 per child. Race Day Registration costs $20.00 per child.

JULY 4th Parade starts at 2:00 p.m. on Central Street (from Central Park Ave to Ryan Field at Ashland Ave.)
