Compost is Cool! Internation Compost Awareness Week at the Crown Library
May 7 - May 13
Free
From May 7th to May 13th come to the Crown Branch to learn more about compost, grab some compost-related activities and drop off your food scraps in the free compost bins!
Description
International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative around compost. It is celebrated nationwide and in other countries each year during the first full week of May. The goal of ICAW is to work together to raise public awareness on why we all should be composting our organics and using compost. The program includes poster and video contests in the fall and activities and events held during the week in May. Throughout the week of ICAW, community, school, government and business events are held to encourage and celebrate composting – all types of composting – from backyard to large-scale.
At the Crown branch we will have book displays, educational videos, coloring pages, a children’s activity on May 11th at 10:30am (see calendar to register) and more, so stop by check them out!
Don’t forget to bring your food scraps and drop them off in the free compost bins.
