D65 Public Hearing: E-Learning Plan in Lieu of using Emergency Days
September 27th, 2021 @ 7:00 PM
FreeEvanston/Skokie School District 65, will host a public hearing on Monday, September 27, 2021 on an e-Learning proposal for students that could potentially be enacted on days school is closed due to extreme cold, major snowstorms or other emergencies.
The hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021, at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center, Board Room– 1500 McDaniel Ave., Evanston, IL 60201. (Meeting agenda and the live-streaming link will be posted on the district website 48 hours in advance of the meeting).
The purpose of this hearing is to seek input from school personnel, parents/caregivers, and other community members concerning the provision of the School Code allowing for e-Learning days when school is unexpectedly closed in the event of snow or other weather-related events and in lieu of using an emergency make-up day as amended by Public Act 101-0012. Section 5/10-20.56 of the School Code contains the minimum requirements to ensure staff and student participation in an eLearning day, while not physically present, in order for the day to be counted as a day of student attendance.
