Evanston Reparations Committee, Evanston Arts Council Host Youth Art Contest

October 5 - October 12

The Evanston Reparations Committee, in partnership with the Evanston Arts Council, is seeking youth art submissions surrounding the topic of reparations. Four winners will be selected to receive $200.

Evanston youth and youth organizations interested in participating should create art in any form (e.g. poetry, music, artwork, written word) that responds to the question, “What comes to mind when you think of reparations?”

Art for submission should be emailed to with the subject line: “Evanston Youth, Reparations, and the Arts/YOUR  NAME,” or delivered in person to the security desk on the ground floor of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., by Wednesday, October 12 at 4 p.m.

Contest rules:

  • Artists must be Evanston residents or students between the ages of 2 and 22 or an Evanston Youth Organization that caters to those ages 2 through 22.
  • The contest is limited to one submission per person/youth organization.
  • Files must not exceed 50mb.

The Evanston Arts Council will select four winning artists/organizations to receive $200. The winners will also be recognized at the Reparations Town Hall on Saturday, October 22 at Second Baptist Church, 1717 Benson Ave., and at the Arts Council’s “A Bright Night for the Arts” event in November.
