Evanston Scholars, a nonprofit that helps Evanston youth access and graduate from college and launch careers, is hosting the 9th annual POMP! Benefit on Saturday, May 7.

After two years of virtual celebrations, POMP! will be in-person at Double Clutch Brewing Company in Evanston. The event will follow the latest federal and state protocols to ensure safety.

POMP! Co-Chair and Board Member Mary Finnegan says, “We chose Double Clutch Brewing Company, a new restaurant in the heart of Evanston, for its expansive, high-ceilinged spaces and two large garage-style doors that can be opened for extra ventilation.”

This year’s theme is Making It Happen. The program will focus on all the ways that students, their families, and the community come together to make college graduation a reality. Graduates will share how they found ways to thrive during the pandemic as well as their plans for life after graduation. The event will showcase the ways the Evanston community’s support makes a direct impact in the lives of students and their families.

The event includes a buffet dinner and open bar and features a raffle with exciting prizes including Chicago Cubs baseball tickets, a Lake Michigan Cruise, two tickets to see Watch What’s Happening Live with Andy Cohen in New York City, A BBQ party from Bungalow BBQ, and a case of premium wine.

Tickets cost $125 per person. There are reduced price tickets available
for Evanston Scholars mentors, alumni, and parents.

Proceeds from POMP! provide programming and support services so that Evanston’s first generation students, students of color, and students from families with limited financial means have the resources to access and graduate from college and obtain jobs.
