About the Musicians:
Anatolia Evarkiou-Kaku is a varied, classically-trained flutist who performs and teaches throughout Chicago and supports groups that strive to amplify conventionally underrepresented voices through performance and pedagogy. Anatolia has performed with organizations such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, 5th Wave Collective, Oistrahk Symphony of Chicago, Windy City Opera, and La Jolla Music Society. She coaches flutists of all levels and maintains a small private studio. Anatolia’s current chamber project is the commission, performance, and recording of “the girl who cried pain”, a theme and variations for flute, violin, and vibraphone by Ruby Fulton. The project will culminate in an upcoming music video filmed in Chicago communities and featuring local women and musicians in 2022. Anatolia completed a Bachelor of Arts at Pomona College where she studied Music and Economics and was awarded the William F. Russell and William G. Blanchard Prizes. She completed a Master of Music with Distinction in Flute Performance at DePaul University School of Music and thereafter, a Post- Masters Graduate Certificate in Flute Performance with Chicago Symphony Orchestra Principal Flute Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson.

Adèle-Marie Buis: Active freelance oboe and English horn musician, Adèle-Marie Buis is originally from the Chicagoland area. Appearing recently with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, and Nu Deco Ensemble, she has also played in ensembles accompanying The Who and Nas and toured Japan with the New York Symphonic Ensemble.
