Story Time Wednesdays at First Pres Evanston

Parents or childcare providers looking for an age-appropriate morning activity for children from newborn through the toddler stage now have another option.

First Presbyterian Church of Evanston is beginning to host a weekly story time in their library at 1427 Chicago Avenue in Evanston. The group will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. each week, with 30 minutes of books being read aloud to the group, followed by a time for the adults and children alike to enjoy some refreshments while socializing.

These story time gatherings are free of charge.

“As a local mom of a preschooler and a toddler, I know how challenging it can be to find someplace to visit and make connections with other parents or childcare providers with similarly-aged children,” said Amanda Golbek, who serves as the church’s minister of children and youth. “This will be a very low-key get-together. I’ll fill the first half hour by reading various children’s books, and then we will have the opportunity to chat with one another and have our kids socialize for the remainder of the time we have.”

The library at First Pres was recently reorganized and redecorated, making it a comfy, warm and inviting space for individuals and groups.
