Wally Bobkiewicz,  Evanston’s  City Manager  since August 2009, is one of  five finalists under consideration for a new County Administrator  position in Clackamas County, Oregon, according to information posted on that County’s website on Dec. 26.

The other finalists in the running included the  Deputy City Manager of Walla, Walla, Wash.; the chief operating officer at Metro, which serves as the regional government for the Oregon portion of the Portland area; as well as several administrators from Clackamas County.

Members of the public were invited to meet the finalists during a public reception on Jan. 7,  at the Development Services Building in Oregon City, said Tim Heider, the County’s Public Affairs Manager, in the release.

Candidate interviews were then to  take place in early January, Mr. Heider said in the release. Commissioners hope to hire a new County Administrator by late-January with an anticipated starting date by March, Mr. Heider said.

The County is seeking to replace County Administrator Don Krupp, who is retiring in January, according  to the release. The County Administrator manages the employees and activities of the county by implementing the policies and goals of the commissioners, the release said.

Clackamas County, located in the Wilamette Valley, is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, Oregon-Washington Metropolitan Statistical area.

The fast-growing county has seen its population  grow from  an estimated 375,994 in April 2010, to 412,672 by July 2017, according to U.S. Census Department data.

Mr. Bobkiewicz was named a finalist for the position of city manager in Tacoma, Wash., in 2017. He ended up, though, later withdrawing his name, saying his professional interests remained in Evanston.
