About 100 Evanston Township High School students answered the call for a worldwide walkout on March 15 to call attention to the lack of real progress on climate change. Greta Thurnberg, the 16-year-old climate activist from Sweden, has been holding her own sit-in each Friday outside the Swedish Parliament for the past few months. On this Friday – the Ides of March – students around the world staged their own protests.

ETHS sophomores Eloisa Tirres and Josie Hansen said they joined the walked “to bring attention to climate change, which will be irreversible in 11 years,” they said.
