At its Aug. 19 meeting, the District 65 School Board approved James Gray as the principal of Walker Elementary School. He began his new role on Aug. 20.
“I am deeply appreciative of the Walker staff for stepping forward during this time of transition to ensure the school is ready to welcome students next week. I would also like to applaud all those who dedicated their time and perspective this summer to help ensure a thorough and thoughtful search process, “ said Stacy Beardsley, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction. “We had several very qualified applicants, yet Mr. Gray’s experience and deep commitment to students and school community made him a stand-out candidate.”
Mr. Gray holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University.
“I am honored to be the next principal of Walker Elementary,” said Mr. Gray. “During the interview process two things became clear – Walker has passionate teachers and highly engaged parents. The chance to lead a diverse school in a district committed to equity is exciting. I look forward to meeting students, staff and parents over the next few weeks.”
