Inaugural North Shore Mental Health/Wellness Fair

Community members and healthcare professionals who are interested in learning more about mental and behavioral health will have the opportunity to discover resources and services available on the North Shore and the North Side of Chicago at the inaugural North Shore Mental Health and Wellness Fair. This free event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on April 28 at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.

The Fair will host exhibits and resources from more than 20 mental health care organizations and practitioners aiding children through seniors. There will be information and free on-site screenings for depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions. Participants will be able to meet a variety of clinicians, practitioners and organizations supporting those with mental health needs.

Exhibitors include Chicago Behavioral Hospital; Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness; City of Evanston Health Department; CJE Senior Life; Dutton, Casey & Mesoloras Elder Law; Heartwood Center; IMPACT Behavioral Health; In-Home Counseling for Seniors; Institute for Therapy Through the Arts; Metropolitan Family Services; Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute; NAMI North Shore; North Shore Senior Options; PEER Services; Presence St. Francis Behavioral Health; Rabin Kodner & Brown Disability Benefits; Rainbow Hospice & Palliative Care; Samaritan Counseling Center; SIR Management Mental Health Rehabilitation; Village of Skokie Human Services; Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare; Turning Point; and Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center

In conjunction with this resource fair, Local Art @ EPL will host an exhibit of art created by individuals with experience of mental illness and recovery. The exhibit will open on April 28 and run through May on the second floor landing of the Main Library.

Karen Danczak Lyons, EPL Director, said, "One in five Americans has a mental illness. Providing trustworthy and accurate information and resources for improving mental health and wellness is one important way we can meet the diverse needs of the Evanston community. The Library is a reliable place for anyone to improve their understanding of mental health and take next steps, as needed, with solid information in hand."

This event has been created through a partnership between City of Evanston, the Village of Skokie, Evanston Public Library, In-Home Counseling for Seniors, Metropolitan Family Services of Chicago, Chicago Behavioral Hospital and Presence St. Francis Behavioral Health.

Anyone who wants more information may contact Justine Janis, EPL Social Worker, at 847-448-8659.
