Opie Meets Some of His Rescuers
Opie seemed unfazed by all the attention, but the adults were all delighted to see him. Tinkerbell does not like the cold and decided not to attend. Seeing a  happy and healthy dog wagging his tail appeared to make all the work worthwhile.

Curt's Café Honors Two Evanston Police Officers
On Oct. 19, Curt’s Café held its annual fundraising event at which Evanston Police Officers Enjoli Daley and Adam Howard were acknowledged for their continued efforts in the community and working with youth.  Mayor Stephen Hagerty and Police Chief Demitrous Cook presented the “Life Changer” award from Curt’s Café to the officers.

Harry Lennix and NU Friends Support Plans for New Performing Arts Center
A spirited group of Northwestern alumni, professors and current students, primarily from Communications and Theatre concentrations, gathered on Oct. 23 in a private room at the Celtic Knot to meet, mingle and learn about a new venture in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago: plans to create the Lillian Marcie Performing Arts Center as a place to showcase past, current and future contributions of live entertainment from across the black diaspora.

City of Evanston Offers Snow Shoveling Assistance Program
Again this winter, the City of Evanston will offer its snow-shoveling program, which connects older adult residents and persons with disabilities with volunteers who are offering snow-shoveling services. Those seeking assistance and those who would like to volunteer are encouraged to sign up at cityofevanston.org/shoveling. Volunteers are needed for the entire 2019-20 winter snow season.

Foster Senior Club's Own 'Project Runway': 'Stepping High in Style'
As always, the tables were decorated, the crowd was mellow and the mood was jolly. The runway looked the same, but the setting was new, as the Chandler-Newberger Center played host to the perennial fall favorite, the Foster Fashion Show. Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center – on Foster Street, the club’s eponym – is temporarily under repair.

Northwestern Professor Celebrates 51 Years of Communication
In her senior year at Fordham University, Kathleen Galvin was told where to apply to graduate school. The two professors in Fordham’s Department of Speech asked their top students to apply to various schools across the country, “so they could see how good their department was,” she told the RoundTable. She wandered into the office one spring day with a letter of acceptance from Northwestern University and told her professors of the offer.
