By now most everyone knows where and when the services for Lorraine Morton, beloved former teacher and principal at School District 65, former Fifth Ward Alderman and former Mayor of Evanston will be held: Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 21 at First Church of God Christians Life, 1524 Simpson St. The funeral service begins at 11 a.m. in Alice Millar Chapel, 1870 Sheridan Road.

Editorial: Icon or Eyesore? Transparency and Honest Conversation Needed
The City purchased the property in 1963 and leased it to the Evanston Art Center. Neither the City nor the Art Center took the trouble to maintain this asset, however, and now it remains along the dunes of Lighthouse Beach, to some an icon, to others, an eyesore.
