A Closer Look at the Building Proposed for the Library Parking Lot
Evanston’s Plan Commission will soon consider a planned development proposed for the City owned Library parking lot. The Commission’s decision and what they must consider to reach it are worth public scrutiny, especially because the project involves the sale of public land.

More Room: When Lenny Met Victor

In this centenary year of Leonard Bernstein’s birth, we rightly celebrate his genius as a conductor, composer, educator and pianist.

But no less important was Lenny’s enormous impact on people’s lives.

Room for a View: 'Tis the Season'
It was late morning.  Addie sat alone, staring out her window.  It was the holiday season, and although it was a time when Addie thought a lot about her poverty, she was grateful for her “blessings.”  “Well,” she thought, “Tis the season.  I’ll be alright.”

“HaMakom yenachem et’chem b’toch shar avay’lay Tzion vee’Yerushalayim.”

Room for a View: Remembering
I miss him terribly, still, at least as much as I miss my twin brother. Tom’s dying was not kind – either to him or to me and all who loved him. Yet, I am grateful for my memories – and knowing just how healing, over time, love can be.

Editorial: Facing the Scorching, Stormy, Frigid, Parched Future: Climate Change
Last week’s report on climate change seems to have something to frighten nearly everyone.  Storms will intensify but periods between them could be hotter and drier. Things we relied on for food may not be available – but buying food that is out of season here and flown in from a distance may soon be a ridiculous luxury.
