School officials recovered a loaded handgun from a Chute Middle School student Monday morning, Evanston Police announced in a press release this afternoon. The student, a 13-year-old male, was allegedly showing the gun to his classmates and someone alerted the administration. School leaders recovered the weapon before EPD arrived on the scene.
EPD Commander Ryan Glew said police believe there are no ongoing threats to the student body or the staff at Chute. Check the RoundTable website later today for an update on this story.
