Northwestern’s response to the report of hazing by members of its football team is troubling. President Michael Schill’s initial statement on Friday, suspending Coach Pat Fitzgerald for two weeks, looked like an attempt to sweep the matter under the rug. Superb reporting by The Daily Northwestern, and the subsequent outcry, led to a new statement Monday, announcing that Fitzgerald was relieved of his duties.
