The Kingsley School and District 65 communities mourn the loss of Chris Short, a fourth-grade teacher at Kingsley School.  He worked at District 65 since 1990, including as a teacher at Nichols Middle School and Kingsley and as an interim principal at Washington School.

Superintendent Hardy Murphy said in a letter to parents that Mr. Short “touched the lives of so many faculty, staff, and students and we know that he will be missed. …My heartfelt condolences go out to Chris and his family and to all our District 65 family who I know will feel this loss.”

Mr. Short was a beloved teacher. The Kingsley School community held a fundraiser on May 24 to help offset his medical expenses in conjunction with the HomeMade Pizza Co. on Central Street.

The family announced that a memorial service will be held in his memory on Saturday evening, June 4th at 6 p.m. at the Vineyard Christian Church at 2495 Howard Street in Evanston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the ETHS Educational Foundation (1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston 60201) or to Foundation 65, District 65’s Educational Foundation (P.O. Box 750, Evanston 60204).
