Firefighters wearing breathing gear descend into a smoke-filled entrance Friday at The Locker Room, 1416 Central St. The late morning fire at the NU sports memorabilia and clothing store was quickly struck.

Fire Department Division Chief Kimberly Kull said in addition to Evanston firefighters, battalions from Skokie and Wilmette as well as personnel from Northfield were on the scene. There were no reports of firefighters or residents injured, she said. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
