Join Evanston Public Library and Yeefah Thurman from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, in celebration and preparation for National Crown Day on July 3. This event will educate and address the hair discrimination against BIPOC, specifically Black people, and define the importance of the National Crown Act. There will also be an opportunity to sign the national petition pushing for policy change.
With the assistance of professional hair care specialists, such as curly hair specialist, loctician, barber, hair stylist and skin care expert, participants get to learn from a panel of hair experts, experience a mini hair show to highlight the panelists’ creativity and expertise, and receive a brief hair consultation.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their own individual stories and hair care journeys. This event will also showcase Black-owned hair care products and participants will be entered in a raffle to win some hair care freebies.
