Sarah Delgado and her 4-year-old daughter Nina drop off Styrofoam for recycling at the First United Methodist Church, 516 Church St. “We hang on to Styrofoam looking for a spot to recycle,” said Sarah. “It’s a huge mess in our house.” Residents can drop off clean Styrofoam at the church between 10 a.m. and noon every third Saturday of the month. Helping here is Phyllis Bird, chairman of the church’s Earth Care Committee. Volunteers take Styrofoam packing material to Abt Electronics in Glenview and post-consumer products such as coffee cups, egg cartons and food trays to Dart Container on the South Side of Chicago for recycling.
